CartHold Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how CartHold, a Sproutkey application for Shopify merchants,
collects, uses, and protects information when merchants install the app and when shoppers
interact with storefront experiences powered by CartHold.
Effective date: May 8, 2026
Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to merchants who install CartHold and to shoppers whose cart activity
is processed by CartHold on a merchant storefront. Merchants remain responsible for their
own customer-facing privacy notices and store policies.
What CartHold does
CartHold helps merchants temporarily reserve inventory while a shopper has products in a
cart, validate checkout timing, and display countdown messaging related to item holds.
Information we collect
- Merchant account and store details needed to install, configure, and operate the app.
- Store inventory and product variant identifiers required to track temporary holds.
- Cart or session identifiers used to associate reserved inventory with a shopper session.
- Operational metadata such as request timestamps, shop domain, and app diagnostic logs.
How we use information
- Provide inventory reservation, cart validation, and checkout preflight functionality.
- Maintain app settings chosen by the merchant, including hold duration configuration.
- Monitor reliability, prevent abuse, troubleshoot incidents, and improve the service.
- Meet contractual, legal, security, and platform compliance requirements.
How information is shared
CartHold does not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service
providers and infrastructure vendors only as needed to host, secure, monitor, and support
the app. Information may also be disclosed if required by law, to enforce agreements, or
to protect the security and integrity of the service.
Data retention
Cart and reservation data is retained only for as long as needed to support active holds,
resolve operational issues, satisfy legal obligations, and maintain appropriate records.
Temporary hold data is designed to expire automatically when reservation windows end.
Security
CartHold uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended
to protect information against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, or loss. No method
of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Your choices
Merchants can uninstall CartHold through Shopify at any time. Shoppers who have questions
about a specific store's use of CartHold should contact that merchant directly first.
Policy changes
This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect product, operational, or legal
changes. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
